Special precautions
Before taking omeprazole,
- Tell your doctor if you are pregnant, plan to become pregnant, or are breast-feeding. If you become pregnant while taking omeprazole, call your doctor.
- Tell your doctor if you have or have ever had liver disease.
- Tell your doctor and pharmacist what prescription and nonprescription medications, nutritional supplements, vitamins, and herbal products you are taking.
- Tell your doctor and pharmacist if you are allergic to omeprazole or any other medications.
Side effects
Omeprazole may cause side effects. Tell your doctor if any of these symptoms are severe or do not go away:
- cough
- constipation
- mild rash
- dizziness
- diarrhea
- stomach pain
Omeprazole may cause other side effects. Call your doctor if you have any unusual problems while taking this medication.
Symptoms of overdose may include:
- dry mouth
- headache
- flushing (feeling of warmth)
- sweating
- vomiting
- upset stomach
- rapid or pounding heartbeat
- blurred vision
- drowsiness
- confusion
Keep all appointments with your doctor.
Do not let anyone else take your medicine.
